The music system lets Shufen Bot play songs in a voice channel. You add a song or playlist with /play, control the music with the buttons on the now playing card, and keep your favorites and your own playlists with /playlist.
In the window above, Alex adds a song to the queue with /play. The bot shows its position in the queue and the estimated wait, then the now playing card appears and Alex switches the loop to "Queue Repeat". The bars below are a sample breakdown of which sources the played songs came from.
Playing a song step by step
Buttons on the card
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Previous / Skip | Goes back to the previous song or skips the current one. Even when looping a single track, Skip really moves on to the next song. |
| Pause / Resume | Pauses or resumes the music. Paused time doesn't count toward listening stats. |
| Loop | Cycles Off → Track Repeat → Queue Repeat. |
| ➕ | Adds the current song to Favorites or to one of your playlists; you can also create a new list from here. |
| Lock | Turns the music lock on or off (see below). |
| Control panel | Opens the panel with Shuffle, Autoplay, Stop and the volume/effect options. |
Commands
/play song [platform]
Adds a song or playlist by name or link. Suggestions appear as you type. If you don't set platform, it searches Spotify.
/playlist [kullanici]
Opens the music panel with the Favorites, My lists, You and Server tabs. If you pick a kullanici, you see that person's lists.
Supported sources
| Source | Search by name | Link |
|---|---|---|
| Spotify | Yes (default) | Track, album, playlist, artist |
| YouTube | Yes | Video, Shorts, livestream, playlist |
| YouTube Music | Yes | Track link |
| SoundCloud | Yes | Track and playlist |
| Apple Music | Yes | Link |
| Deezer | No | Track, album, playlist |
| Bandcamp, Twitch | No | Link |
Not getting the right song?
Change the platform option or paste the song's link directly. If the platform you chose returns nothing, the bot also tries Spotify and SoundCloud.
Control panel and music lock
The control panel is a single message in the channel that everyone can see. If it's opened again, the old one is deleted; it updates itself when the song changes.
| Option | Values |
|---|---|
| Volume | 0%, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, 125, 150 |
| Speed | 0.75×, 1×, 1.25×, 1.5× |
| EQ | Flat, Pop, Rock, Jazz, Classical, Vocal |
| Bass | Off, Light, Medium, High |
Settings last for the session
Volume, speed, EQ and bass choices only apply to that playback session. Once the bot leaves the channel, the next session starts at the default volume set in the dashboard.
The lock button on the card turns on the music lock. While it's on, adding songs, skipping, pausing and changing volume/effects is limited to the person who summoned the bot and members with the Manage Server permission. Anyone can still listen; adding the song to your favorites or a playlist with the card's ➕ button and viewing the queue are not affected by the lock either.
- Only the person who summoned the bot or someone with Manage Server can turn the lock on or off.
- The lock is always set on behalf of the person who summoned the bot, and that person must be in the same voice channel as the bot.
- If the person who summoned the bot leaves the voice channel, the lock drops immediately and doesn't come back on its own.
Control policy for the Previous and Skip buttons
By default, everyone in the same voice channel as the bot can use the card buttons. If a stricter bot-wide policy is on, the Previous and Skip buttons are only available to the person who requested the current song and to members with Manage Channels; if anyone else presses them, they get "Only the requester or channel managers can use this control." This restriction doesn't apply when you are the only listener in the channel.
/playlist step by step
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Favorite songs | Up to 500 |
| Playlists | Up to 25 lists per person |
| Songs in a list | Up to 200 |
| List name | Up to 40 characters |
| Adding to the queue at once | Up to 100 songs |
| Panel lifetime | 10 minutes; then reopen it with /playlist |
Listening stats
While the bot is playing, listens by people in the channel are recorded; listens shorter than 20 seconds don't count. These records feed the You tab and the music section of the Rewind card.
Setup
The music system is free. You configure it in the dashboard:
Step 1
In the dashboard, pick your server on the My Servers page.
Step 2
Open the Music System card.
Step 3
In the Voice Channel field, leave "All Channels" or pick the single channel where music will play.
Step 4
Set the limits and options, then click Save.
Step 5
Join a voice channel and play your first song with /play.
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Voice Channel | All Channels | If you pick a channel, music only plays in that voice channel. |
| Default Volume (%) | 80 | The volume when playback starts (1–100). |
| Max Queue | 100 | The maximum number of songs that can wait in the queue (1–500). |
| Max Song Duration (min) | 0 | Longer songs are not added; 0 means no limit (up to 120). |
| Leave Timeout (min) | 5 | How many minutes the bot waits before leaving once nobody is left in the channel. Ignored in 24/7 mode. |
| Empty Queue Timeout (min) | 0 | How many minutes after the songs end the bot leaves; 0 leaves immediately. |
| Message Delete (sec) | 15 | When notices like "skipped" or "paused" are deleted; 0 keeps them. |
| Autoplay | Off | Keeps playing similar songs once the queue ends. |
| 24/7 Mode | Off | The bot stays in the channel; it pauses when nobody is there and resumes when someone joins. |
| Now Playing Notification | On | Posts a song card in the text channel when a new song starts. |
| Mute Members | Off | Server-mutes people in the voice channel while the bot is playing. Can only be turned on when a single voice channel is selected. |
Auto Music
When the Auto Music section at the bottom of the same card is on, the bot joins your chosen voice channel every time it starts and plays the list in shuffled order (up to 50 songs). Picking a voice channel and a text channel is required. For the list you can choose "Server's most played", "A user's liked songs" (with a User ID) or a Spotify/YouTube playlist link.
When do changes take effect?
Auto Music settings take effect the next time the bot starts. It's normal for music not to start right after you save.
Give the bot voice channel permissions
If the bot doesn't have Connect and Speak in the voice channel, you get "I don't have permission to connect or speak in this voice channel."
Frequently asked questions
Why do I get "Music can only play in this channel"?
A Voice Channel is selected in the dashboard. Move to that channel, or have an admin set it to "All Channels".
The bot is playing in another channel. Will it come to mine?
If nobody is listening in the bot's current channel, it moves to yours. If someone is listening there, you need to join that channel first.
Why were some songs skipped when I added a playlist?
Songs over the Max Song Duration limit, or that don't fit because the queue is full, are not added. The reply says how many were skipped. Songs that would run past the nightly maintenance time are not queued either.
Can I edit someone else's playlist?
No. With /playlist kullanici you can view their lists and add their songs to the queue; unfavoriting, renaming and deleting are only available to the list's owner.
Does autoplay work with every song?
Autoplay can be turned on for songs from Spotify, SoundCloud, Apple Music, Deezer, Bandcamp and YouTube. If you try to turn it on for an unsupported source, the bot tells you.
I get "Queue is full" or "This song is too long"
You hit the Max Queue or Max Song Duration limit in the dashboard. Try again once some songs have played, or ask an admin to raise the limit.
I get "Music is locked"
The lock is on. Ask the person who summoned the bot, or someone with Manage Server, to turn it off. If the person who summoned the bot leaves the voice channel, the lock drops on its own.
Try it on your server
Join a voice channel and type /play. Go to the dashboard for channel, limit and Auto Music settings.
