Shufen Bot runs in a single language on each server. The language you choose is the language of all of the bot's replies and the names of its slash commands on that server. For example, a Turkish server shows /balance, while an English server shows /balance.

/language or the dashboard

When the bot joins a server, it posts a welcome message in the system channel (or, if there isn't one, the first channel it can write in). You can pick the language right away from the menu in that message.

Changing the language

From Discord

Step 1

Type /language. The panel is only visible to you and shows the current language.

Step 2

Pick the new language from the menu.

Step 3

The bot confirms the language is set. Commands switch to the new language within a few seconds.

From the dashboard

Step 1

In the dashboard, pick your server on the My Servers page.

Step 2

Choose the language in the Bot Language box at the top of the page.

Step 3

The choice is saved immediately; commands in Discord update within a few seconds.

Who can change it?

With /language, only members with the Manage Server permission can change the language. In the dashboard, the server owner and dashboard managers can change it.

If commands are still in the old language

Discord caches the command list. If the new names don't show up right away, reload the Discord app (Ctrl+R).

What follows the server language?

  • Every message, card and button the bot posts in channels.
  • The names of server-specific slash commands and their options.
  • DMs you get about the server (for example, a setup reminder).

What is separate?

  • /privacy is a global command because it also works in DMs; its name appears in your own Discord language.
  • Replies to commands you use in DMs come in your Discord language; if that language isn't supported, in English.
  • The web dashboard and these guides open in the language you choose, independent of the server language. If you haven't chosen one, your browser's language is used.

Frequently asked questions

Can members see it in their own language?

No. The language is per server: everyone on the same server sees the bot and its commands in the same language. That way the same command works under the same name for everyone.

Does changing the language affect my settings?

No. Only the text the bot writes and the command names change. Your system settings and channel and role choices stay as they are.

I don't know which language to choose. What's the default?

When the bot is first added, it uses the language from the Discord server setting. If that language isn't supported, it starts in English. You can change it any time.

The dashboard shows "Commands couldn't be registered on this server"

The bot can't register commands on this server. Try removing the bot from the server and adding it again with the applications.commands permission. When the bot is removed, your settings are kept for 90 days; when you add it back, you can restore them from the server page.

Choose the language

Type /language in Discord or use the Bot Language box in the dashboard.
